The boatman has got to be one of Westsides most underrated drivers. i got a boatman early on when i was first learning to throw. i didnt know what i had at the time and so it got bumped from my bag. a few months back i played in one of my first wooded tournaments and found my boatman among my “bench players” and thought i would give it a try. the course primarily had 250′-300′ tight fairways on whichi was planning to use my teebird. unfortunately my teebird found a pond on the course before the bulk of the longer wooded holes. i was forced to find an alternative. enter the boatman. i could not go wrong with my boatman – flick shots, backhand tunnel shots, flex annies, hyzer flips: it was eating up everything. i had different card mates asking me on hole after hole after hole what i had just shot and the answer surprised them every time. they couldnt believe it was the same disc for different types of holes. the boatman feels so perfect in my had. for a speed 11 it is so versatile. on a flat release it will fly forever. i have been able to match my best distance drivers (ballista, sheriff, shryke) with my boatman without having to add any extra power. put it on a slight anny with a little air under it for a flick shot and it will slowly and gently fight out of it for a reliable finish every time. it is overstable but in just the right way for a predictable fade. this should be in every players bag from beginners to experienced masters. get a boatman and you’ll never leave it at home again when you head out for a round. I like the boatman so much that i had to get multiples as backups just in case.
