For a trip to New Orleans, I wanted to take my gear, but I didn’t want to risk having a $100 Paratrooper stolen, which is an absolutely legitimate risk. I saw the DISCover bag, read some decent reviews, plus, for only $20, I had nothing to lose.
I had already seen the video, showing how to set the divider, so that wasn’t an issue. I put 10 discs in it, and the discs looked enormous, but it can still comfortably hold 2-3 more, plus 1-2 up in the top pocket. The velcro holds the flap back perfectly during play, which is one feature I don’t like about the Paratrooper, the flap’s always in the way. To be honest, this is the feature that sold me on the DISCover, but it’s simplicity, and lack of other features is why I like it so much.
Cup holder is plenty big, with drawstring, and a thin pocket for score cards, sharpies, etc. on the other side.
It’s a small bag, comparatively, but it absolutely does the job. Discs don’t fall out (that was a concern when I first saw it), it stands up perfectly, no swaying back and forth before it falls, and you don’t have to wrestle the discs out.
It should be obvious for $20 you’re not getting any extra bells and whistles, but if you just need a bare bones bag with only what you need, function before fashion (though the camo does look cool), or one that you can give to your out-of-town friend after the round, this is it.

Almost exactly 6 months later, I’m still using this bag, exclusively, for most short to mid courses. I still use a cart for the longer courses, but for par 3s, I use this excellent minimalist bag due to it’s weight, durability, and functionality.
The only drawback so far is that you have to keep it full of discs or it will droop, there is no frame to make it stand up straight; this makes it particularly difficult to set down on a slope. Otherwise, it’s a perfectly practical bag for most par 3 courses.

It’s tough enough, still no tears anywhere, zippers still work, etc. It’s also nice to see folks underestimate someone who comes out with such a tiny little bag 🙂
